Dang! As a magazine, we may only be one issue old, but boy is that first issue looking good! It's packed full of the best young photographers from around the world and some of their best work, all based around the issue's theme, 'Night'. Here's a few reasons why you should buy WHAT HYPE:

> WHAT HYPE is simple. A lot of art zines are pretentious. There, we said it, and we don't regret it. Seriously, forget all that arty-farty rubbish and appreciate something that wants to be appreciated by everyone, not just those who can wade through the bullshit and come out the other end thinking 'dude, that was really meaningful' when it probably wasn't. We've got artist info, an introduction, some articles and some damn good photos. We don't need a food column.

> WHAT HYPE features a great selection of artists. It's true. It may not be a star-studded cast, but we want to showcase young talent, not well-known talent; the photographers who may well be big in the future. And we're showing you what they're doing now. > WHAT HYPE is cheap. We're an indie zine, so don't be silly, we can't just throw our issues at you for 20p apiece. But we're still considerably cheaper than most other art magazines, because we don't try to pack too much in each issue. Otherwise it'd cost a fortune, and no one wants to spend a fortune on something that doesn't have four wheels or a roof.

> WHAT HYPE is real. We love other indie photography magazines, sure, but a lot of them are virtual. Magazines belong in the physical world - people can rant about the demise of print media all they want but nothing beats a magazine you can hold in your hand. It beats squinting at a screen.
